Riviera Maya

We just returned from our family vacation in Mexico, or Mex-kick-o, as Judson says it.  We had such a great time.  We made lots of new friends and spent a lot of time in the sun at the pool and on the beach.  The food at our resort was AH-MAY-ZING, so of course, you know I was happy.  I've never been a huge fan of the traditional breakfast, so I loved having beans and chips and all kinds of yummy mexican items each morning. Both kids slept really well and both of them had a great time. Especially Judson who made lots of friends and played hard everyday.  Our airplane flights surprisingly went great.  I was mostly concerned about how Addie was going to do, but she did great (thank goodness).  We left the resort only once to go into Playa del Carmen shopping for some trinkets.  It was much hotter there and so Judson and Addison weren't too happy.  Not to mention, Jeremy isn't a big fan of shopping.  But they were all sweet and let me shop a little and we all ate lunch at a little local restaurant.  We are all still alive, so that's good. ;)
We sat Addie in the sand only once and she immediately wiped her eyes. Yikes. So we realized really quick that she was more of a pool babe.

Now back to the food.... :)  Our resort had an amazing Asian restaurant of all things.  Jeremy is usually not a fan of Asian food, but we LOVED this place. Yummo.  Addison loved the fried rice, too.  Speaking of Addison.  That girl can EAT. I am so glad, too since my Jud is soooo picky.

One night there was a dinner on the beach.  They had people dancing and juggling with fire and Judson was mesmerized.  After the show, all the kids lined up and danced and each got balloons.  it was so out of character for Judson, but he joined in and had a blast.

One day we saw a turtle! Judson scared him to death, chasing him around the deck.

There were a few families that were on our last vacation with us, so that was neat to see them again.  One family has a little girl who is only one month older than Addie Bop.

Our housekeeper brought Judson in his very own bed without us asking for one, and boy have times changed.  He insisted he sleep there every night. Big boy.

Dad went on a deep sea fishing trip.

And Mom went for a massage at the spa.  Pretty nice trade off, I think.  This spa was probably the nicest one I have ever seen.  They probably thought- look at this country bumpkin coming in here taking pictures of everything. :)

This vacation was our first one where we really felt relaxed and had such a great time.  We were so sad to leave, but we hope to go back someday again.  Thank you, Jeremy for working so hard and providing for our family so we can do nice things like this. We love you so much.

Addie is ONE!

 

It's hard to believe, but our sweet Addie Bop is ONE today!  It seems like just yesterday we were awaiting her arrival at the hospital.

 Isn't her little outfit sweet? I actually made it myself. And for those of you who know my sewing skills, it's a BIG deal. ;)

 
We celebrated Addison's birthday at our house with all of her family.  We had ice cream and cake.

Addison wasn't too sure about her cake at first, but then seemed to enjoy it and had a great time feeding it to her Meme.

Addie was able to spend time with her cousin, Cason.

and her other cousins, Porter and Tate came to party with her, too.  They cheered her on as she ate her cake.

Judson did a great job entertaining his cousins, opening Addison's birthday gifts for her, and of course eating ice cream and cake.

Our little Addie is such a sweetie.  She is full of spunk, is very independent, LOVES her big brother, is a great eater, has the sweetest smile, beautiful blue eyes and her daddy's dark hair. We love her so much and are absolutely blessed to have her.  Happy Birthday, Addie Bop!

We Braved The Cold

And went to Canton.

All the fried food beckons me, even on a cold and windy day. :) And Judson LOVES ice cream from The Dairy Palace! :)
I was on the fence about going because I was afraid it would be miserable for the kids, but a friend said- get off the fence and get in the car, and it was such a pretty day, so we headed out! We made our way through all the Arbors at a record breaking speed because it was cold, only stopping for treasures as we saw them. We stopped to buy pecans from a nice old man and I spotted a stool I wanted to buy. As I was handing over my money, I looked back to check on Judson and he is standing there with his pants and underwear at his ankles. HUMILIATING. :) He just said, "Mom, I'm gonna tee tee right here." With Addison on my hip, I somehow managed to get his britches up and get out of the gaze of all these Canton shoppers. Thank goodness the pecan man did his best to make me feel better about the situation. I'm sure this will be one of those funny stories Judson will love to hear about when he gets older.
Anyway- we are so glad we decided to go. Things warmed up nicely and we found lots of goodies!
