Christmas with Pawpaw

Tonight, my Dad, sisters and family, and Nanny all came over to celebrate Christmas at our house. I cooked a big ol' yummy meal and desserts, and then we all opened gifts.  Judson had such a good time playing with his cousins!  He thinks he is sooo big when he is around all of them.  Judson LOVED his glasses that came in his doctor's kit his Aunt Aleshia gave him and Aunt Laci gave him a bunch of fun bath time toys that he will LOVE!

Here is a picture of my precious nephew Jaden. He is going to be Joseph in his play at preschool tomorrow and we are going to see his big debut. He is four.

Well... I Tried To Be Supermom

     Tonight, we finally got all of our furniture put back in place after having new tile put in our house, and we decided it was finally time to put up our Christmas tree.  Dad was so nice to get it all put together and "fluffed" while I cooked dinner.  Judson was SO excited to see a tree in his house with lights on it!  The boys decorated the tree with all of the ornaments and Judson LOVED being part of this with his Daddy.  We started to notice that ALL the ornaments were on one side of the tree and were practically all on one branch. :)

 I had to put the picture below even though it is blurry because those are our old  Christmas stockings Judson decided to wear on his feet.

     Jeremy and I both have fond memories of making sugar cookies and decorating them as kids.  Jeremy's family used to make them the day they put up their tree at home, but he said his Mom always had the cut-out cookies already baked and the kids would decorate them and eat them. My memory is with my Mamaw and my brother and cousin.  Mamaw would always make her dough and roll it out and we would use her cookie cutters to cut out the cookies and she would bake them, and after they cooled, we would decorate them and eat them.  I decided to go the "Mamaw" route because I thought Judson would enjoy using the cookie cutters.  Oh heavens!  I was breaking a sweat by the time our first successful cookie was cut!  My icing was hot pink instead of red and boy was it runny!  I guess the conclusions drawn after this cookie attempt is- A: Judson is probably still a little too small for cookie decorating. B: I need to ask Nanna or Mamaw for THEIR recipes for cookies AND icing.  C. I TOTALLY understand why Betty baked the cookies ahead of time and I realize what a big deal it was for my Mamaw to let us do this each year at her house as kids.
     I will definitely try this again, and I will be better prepared. It WAS fun and Judson really enjoyed it.  This is going to be one of our family traditions each year at The Ables Household.

Yes, I know I look horrible in the picture above, but it is seldom I actually am IN a picture instead of taking it, so I put it in to prove I really was around!  I was mixing our sugar cookie dough.

 You can KINDA tell the shape of our cookies. Whew! It was a doozy even getting them on the pan!

 This picture is precious to me and tickles me, too. As we sat down to start decorating our cookies, Judson looked at Jeremy and said, "Dad, let's pray."  It was soooo cute!

 Judson got a little wild with his icing bag and decorated the table and the floor, too.

Christmas With Grandmosh

This weekend we headed to Frisco to spend some time with Grandmosh for Christmas. She had a lot of fun things planned for Judson to do while he was there. Friday night, she took us to Safety Town in Frisco to see Santa Claus. There was a fire truck there for all the kids to play in. Judson LOVED it!

 I really thought this would be the year that Judson would want nothing to do with Santa Claus, but it was not the case. He likes Santa!

After a visit to Safety Town, we headed to Frisco Square to see the Christmas lights.  I was driving and was in the wrong lane, so it was a short trip to see the lights. :)

Then, we stopped for ice cream and then headed back to Grandmosh's house to open Christmas gifts. Judson LOVED ripping open all the paper! He wanted to stop and play with each toy for a while after he opened one, so we thought we may be opening gifts all night long!

 The next morning, Judson decided to sit under the tree and make sure there weren't any more gifts he needed to open. :)

Then we headed over to The Grapevine Mills Mall to take Judson through the Aquarium. He really enjoyed looking at all of the fish.  He even got to see Santa scuba diving in one of the tanks!

Finally, we headed over to the Gaylord to see ICE. This year's theme was Shrek! We always enjoy going to see ICE, but this year it was SO crowded!!!  It was still fun, though.

Judson looked like a penguin in his giant, oversized coat for ICE.

On the way home, Dad and Judson realized you could still see snowflakes through their 3D glasses if they looked at a shining light.
Grandmosh did a wonderful job planning all the fun activities for Judson to enjoy. We had a great time!
